How To Find Internet Marketing Success
How To Find Internet Marketing Success
If you are interested in obtaining success in internet marketing, I imagine that that headline caught your attention. And that is step one in all of your marketing efforts.
Step 1. Get attention.
It doesn’t matter what you are doing your first activity is to get the attention of your audience.
If you want to sell something you need to get the attention of your potential customer. Why do you think all of those sales letters that you see on affiliate marketer’s web sites start off with some big bright red headline? They want to get your attention.
Why do you thing that newspaper ad say 50% off? They want to get your attention.
Think about the many subject lines that you have seen on the emails that you receive. Again, they want to get your attention – this time so that you will open the email.
Probably, your potential customer doesn’t care how much money you make or how smart you are. But he likely will be interested if you can tell him what you can do for him. How will what you are doing and offering help your customer?
Answer that to his satisfaction and you probably have a foot in the doorway to success.
Step 2. Keep attention.
Once you have managed to get someone to pay attention, you need to keep their attention. And you need to keep them interested in what you are doing. You need to keep their mind and interests focus on what you are offering.
You have several assets that will help you in this endeavor. Let’s look at a couple of them.
a. Your blog.
A blog is a place where you can interface with your customers and your potential customers. Let’s say your blog is on internet marketing. Regardless of your subject, the following principles apply.
Don’t go off subject: in the case of internet marketing don’t start posting about politics. You may know all the ins and outs of politics, but your readers are interested internet marketing. They will watch the news or read the newspaper to get their political information.
b. Your newsletter or emails (list building).
If you are in most any niche and are using the internet to attempt to get sales, you will need some means to stay in contact with anyone that has expressed interest in what you are doing and offering.
You may call it by several different names, but in the end you need a list of prospects and a means to send them information. Remember, you are trying to keep them interested; so, get an autoresponder and set it up so that you can send them emails on a regular basis. Again, make sure your emails are related to what they are expecting.
Then expose them to your content and your offers. If you come up with a new product or service let them know about it. If you find a great affiliate program that fits your area of concentration, let them know about it. The key here is to constantly let them know about the products that you are promoting. Not to overdo it, but expose, expose, expose, and then expose again.
There are many more steps that you will need to take in order to get your internet marketing journey to success. But getting attention and keeping attention are essential. An internet marketing business is just like any other business; people must be made aware of what you have to offer and they must be aware that you still have it to offer or that you have an alternative that will help them to be successful.

Getting attention is the first step in getting sales success in any business. Look at offlie businesses like shops in a mall, they all have signs in the windows with attention getting messages trying to get you in the door. It’s the same with an online business; your headline as you mention will get people interested in reading your post and from there they may sign up for your list and chesk out some of your ads.
Good points Lonnie

Your right, grabbing visitors attention is the first thing that has to happen, and we only have a few seconds to do it. As marketers, this is one area where we really need to know what we are doing, otherwise there will be a lot of wasted effort.

Yes Lonnie,
It is extremely important to catch their attention.
There are so many signs out there on the internet that, at times, it can be very difficult to catch your visitors attention, but once you have their attention it is just as important to keep it.

The Dale Carnegie People Teach Attention, Interest, desire, conviction and close. Although I have recently read alternatives to that formula, it is still a workable basis for thinking about your realtionship with all those unknowns out there in cyber space who happen across your material. Get their attention, and then work on keeping them interested. The additional steps need to follow as well.

Great point, Lonnie!
There’s way to much clutter online these days, especially with all the spammers and phishing going on, so getting noticed is much harder now that it was 5 or 10 years ago online.
The other side of that equation, though, is you have to have valuable content ready before you grab their attention – with so much out there, people make snap decisions about what’s valuable to them and what isn’t – if you grab their attention but then they don’t find anything useful, it’s twice as hard to get them to return.
Be sure you have solid content before you go after people’s attention and you’ll find your task much easier on an ongoing basis!
